UPTECH SENGING's Distributed Temperature and Strain Sensing (DTSS) and Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) solutions measure real-time data 24/7 for the proper operation and maintenance of power grids.
Protection in the operation of power grid infrastructures is achieved by applying high safety margins during their design. In this way, the integrity of the asset is guaranteed by operating below its current capacities, which in turn reduces the efficient use of the infrastructure. The arrival of the electric vehicle, as well as the transition to green energies, will demand a greater use of the current infrastructures and will be able to reach the safety margins applied. Faced with this scenario, monitoring tools are required to ensure the protection of the infrastructure and optimize its performance.
DTS equipment monitors cable temperature in real time, detecting cable failure points due to temperature excesses. Additionally, it allows the application of real-time thermal classification techniques, RTTR and dynamic cable classification, DCR. Finally, the cable burial depth is a data offered by this solution for interconnection submarine cables or offshore wind farm connections. This tool optimizes transmission capacity as well as reduces operating costs.
In addition to ensuring the operation of the infrastructure through the DTS solution, the DAS solution ensures complete protection of the infrastructure against human activity. Third-party interference (TPI) causes infrastructure downtime due to the risk of digging in subway cables or anchoring and dragging on submarine cables. The DAS solution detects this threat in real time, minimizing the risk of infrastructure damage.
