Geotechnical monitoring

Geotechnical monitoring instruments based on fiber optic technology. Detection of geological risk events using distributed fiber optic sensors.

It is essential, before undertaking any work, to know in detail the characteristics of the terrain involved. For this purpose, a land survey must be carried out. This should define the typology and dimensions of the work, as well as determine the construction problems. Additionally, knowing the effect that the construction process has on the ground is critical to ensure that it does not have a negative effect on the rest of the structure. Therefore, geotechnical monitoring is key in any civil structure, especially in tunnels and mines.

In this sense, UPTECH SENSING's fiber optic solutions allow detecting ground movements through the use of distributed fiber optic based inclinometers. This pioneering solution makes it possible to automatically monitor large areas of land using a single deformation and temperature measuring device (DTSS). This equipment allows to automate the data acquisition from different inclinometers to correlate ground displacements with adjacent works, meteorological effects, etc. The system automatically generates alerts in case of landslide, notifying the appropriate person in charge.

In addition, we have other solutions for ground monitoring such as piezometry, pressure sensors, displacement and many others. All of them based on fiber optic technology allowing long distance and automated monitoring.
