Description: In the construction of the Nagore dam, a rockfill dam with an asphalt core, a fiber optic cable has been installed that allows the detection of anomalies associated with filtration pathways. The system has been located in the backwater below the asphalt core due to the particular purpose of this dam, which must maintain a sheet of water upstream. The Nagore dam is the first dam of its type that is known in relation to the implementation of a fiber optic cable for the monitoring of leaks. This action notably improves the knowledge of their behavior, contributing to the control of their safety.
